SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol is a vertically-scrolling space shooter game in a motion simulator cabinet. It has the longest name out of any game in Sonic's history, with Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut coming in a close second. The game was only distributed to Japanese arcades, but I don't think we're missing much.

Galaxy Patrol and the other arcade units are some of the only Sonic games I've never had a chance to play, but I can try to give a general idea of what the game plays like based on other peoples' impressions. It's easiest to compare it to Atari's 1941 shooter, or even some of the late 80's Galaga clones. The game's controls include a joystick on the left, two large plastic buttons in the center of the unit, and a throttle on the right. The joystick moves Sonic's spaceship around the screen, the buttons fire weapons, and the throttle is used to speed up or slow down. Keep in mind that the arcade cabinet itself moves in sync to the controls.
What's the point? You're supposed to be chasing Eggman's spaceship to save your friends - no, not Tails, this is still 1991, think more like the animals from Sonic's first Genesis outing. If you reach the "end" of the level and defeat Eggman, you're rewarded with a new weapon and the game repeats itself...for more money, of course.
